Hello, My name is Alison Lomax. I am a mother of 4 children. I have been married for almost 17 years to Desi Lomax and I have a rare form of cancer called Grey-Zone lymphoma. I survived my first bout of cancer in 2012. They diagnosed it as a Large B-Cell lymphoma. I had chemotherapy and radiation for about 8 months and received a clean bill of health. About 8 months later it became obvious that there were more problems. The scans we received every 3 months started to show signs of growing lymph nodes. Sooooo here we March 2014 knee deep in cancer treatment once again. We are in the first rounds of chemotherapy in preparation for a Stem Cell Transplant.
We do have a secret recipe for success:
Family - My husband and I decided to do our best to enjoy each day that God gives us. We have always been focused on our children and the joy they bring to our lives. My kids are what give me the strength to move forward and endure the difficulty of cancer treatment.
Running - I love to exercise and run. Despite cancer treatment I continue to run, and exercise when I can. The Doctor said it healthy to keep moving so I got to stick my tongue out at my Husband and Dad and keep moving :)
Laughter - We also love to laugh. We enjoy the moments in our lives where time slows down and we make a choice to laugh instead of cry. The Lomax family is set on beating cancer each and every day and not letting it beat us!! Future outcomes are uncertain, but our capacity to live and love today are achievable.
Faith - Okay the first thing I thought was, '"Wow we learned so much from having cancer the 1st time! Why oh why God do we need to go through this again?" I always thought faith was praying for something to happen and believing enough that everything would work out. I now realize that true faith comes from accepting the trails and tribulation in this life believing that God will support you through them all!!
Thank you:
Let me be the first person to thank you for all the love, prayers and support that have been given through this difficult time in our life. We feel blessed for all the people who have reached out with love, time, food and other means. We are helpers and it's been hard to be the one receiving help, but we have learned so much from our voyage. We hope and pray we can continue to stay positive, fight, and have the faith in God's will for our family!
So far Alison 1 Cancer 0. We are working on 2-0.
